Conversation on Energy
More than 330 residents from the Denver-metro area recently attended a lively town hall meeting featuring a discussion on current energy issues facing Colorado and our nation. The "Conversation on Energy" meeting was hosted by the Colorado School of Mines and ConocoPhillips on May 23rd at the Sheraton Denver West in Lakewood. It featured a diverse group of Colorado residents who exchanged ideas regarding conservation, energy security, alternative fuels, and diversification of our energy sources with a panel of experts from across the energy and environmental spectrum. Attention Mineral Processing Professionals

A 2007 subscription to Minerals & Metallurgical Processing is a must for all involved in mineral processing. The journal contains high-quality papers written by the world's most distinguished professionals in mineral processing. This international peer-reviewed journal is published quarterly in February, May, August and November.

Annual subscription rates are much lower than competitive journals — only $95 for SME members ($129 for nonmembers).

The August issue will soon be released and will contain a special invited feature on SAG mill liners by D. Royston, Principal, Royston Process Technology Pty Ltd., Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.

The abstract is as follows:

Semi-autogenous grinding (SAG) mill liner design and development

Abstract
SAG mill liner development draws primarily on practical experience from SAG milling operations supported by computer-based modeling of charge motion in SAG mills and on established good design practice. Liner design needs to respond to the process aspects of mill liner action that are critical to good SAG mill performance, i.e., the impact of shell liners on the grinding action and of grates and pulp lifters on pulp discharge. In recent years, the trend in large SAG mills has been to use wide-spaced shell lifters with large lifter face angles, primarily to reduce packing and ball/liner damage, and to use larger, hence fewer, mill liner parts to reduce downtime at liner change-outs.
